Think Tank: College Sports Commission… Paper Tiger?
In 2025, the Power Four Conferences (Big 12, ACC, SEC, Big Ten) created the College Sports Commission (CSC) as part of the House v. NCAA settlement to monitor third-party NIL contracts and oversee the NCAA's revenue-sharing model. At the time, an NIL spending cap (approximately $20M per school)was implemented. However, two of the four conferences (SEC and Big Ten) have largely ignored the cap and now spend as much as $40m a year. What happened to those rules? Iowa State athle

Miami wants to sign at least two backers to the 2027 recruiting class. Defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman has been very active on the recruiting trail this cycle. Miami has made 19 scholarship offers to school seniors so far in the cycle. Decision this Thursday… Aroson Randle, Jr will an

Time to Pivot…
This week was not a good week for Miami recruiting. The Canes lost major recruiting battles in the trenches on both sides of the line of scrimmage. There’s no way to sugar coat it. The loss of OT Mark Matthews, DT David Folorunsho and DL Xavier Muhammad really hurt. Perhaps Mario Cristobal and his staff can shift to a long game strategy for the blue chip prospects but it will be a steep uphill climb. Can Miami pivot to other options? Let's examine the options at this point

MERCY! Canes bombed 11-1
Miami (35-17, 15-14 ACC) dropped the second game of the finale season series to #11 Florida State, 11-1, on Friday. The Seminole win clinched the weekend series. The game was stopped after eight innings under the 10-run “mercy rule” in college baseball. The Noles had their way with Miami pitching while Miami’s bats were again silent and the defense committed three errors. First pitch for the last game in the regular season is set for 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, with coverage on

ACC scrambles to recover from scheduling disaster
Going into this past week, the ACC had Miami scheduled to play FOUR games on Friday in 2026. Thanks ACC! Miami was absolutely livid. Such scheduling stacked the odds against the Canes making another run to the college playoffs. With those Friday games, Miami was facing shorter weeks to prepare for the next opponent, not to mention the impact on team health and home attendance. Just another example of the ACC shooting itself in the foot. If Miami was inclined to leave the ACC

MELTDOWN!
Miami lost the first game of a three-game series, 7-6, to #11 Florida State in Tallahassee on Thursday. Despite a quality start from Miami lefty Rob Evans, the Canes could hold a 6-1 lead down the stretch. Evans fired seven innings, giving up just one run on six hits while striking out seven and walking two. Miami’s bullpen imploded over the last four innings. Six relievers combined to throw 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, six runs, three walks and one hit batter. Sad

THINK Tank… 24?
It was just three years ago when the CFB Playoff was expanded to twelve (12) teams from four (4) teams. Over the past year, talk began about expanding the playoff to sixteen (16) teams, then talk started about going directly to twenty-four (24) teams! Really? What rationale is being used to destroy the regular season and conference championships? Sure, there might be more money for a select few schools. Sure, the coaches would have more job security. But what about the stude
