The Atlantic Coast Conference released their entire 2025 schedules on Monday evening. The conference is in the second year of a new scheduling model.
According to 247Sports.com, Miami has the 4th toughest schedule in the conference behind Syracuse, Florida State, and Clemson.
Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the Cane schedule.
PROS…
Miami will host eight games at Hard Rock this season. That’s above the average of six games.
The Canes will not have to travel out of the state for the first five games (Notre Dame, Bethune-Cookman, South Florida, Florida and Florida State).
While always a tough opponent, Notre Dame must replaced a number of key players who have graduated, transferred or opted to leave early for the NFL Draft. It’s good to catch them at Hard Rock in the season opener before they can assimilate their newcomers.
Miami does not have to travel to the west coast this season, a logistical challenge for both players and coaches.
CONS…
Miami early season schedule has three very tough opponents (Notre Dame, Florida Florida State) that could define success or failure quickly.
Miami’s two bye weeks are front loaded on the schedule, leaving the Canes to play their last seven games without a break. The season is physically demanding. Such a long stretch could prove costly at the end of the season that includes road games (Virginia Tech, Pitt) to finish out the season. Let’s hope for a light injury season.
BOTTOM LINE:
If Miami can survive the early season schedule and remain relatively healthy down the stretch, we could witness another successful season. If not…
GO CANES!
