It is the second time this season the Canes have taken a major drop in the AP Poll after a defeat. After the Georgia Tech loss, Miami fell eight spots in the AP Poll. In both cases, Miami’s drop was the largest that week in the AP Poll.
Yet Georgia took a drop of only four spots after their last loss. Texas dropped only three spots after their lone loss. Like Miami, Ohio State has two losses. Yet the Buckeyes are still ranked in the top ten at #7.
It appears that if you are a school from the SEC or B1G, you will not drop half as much as schools in other conferences. The proof is in the records.
The AP Poll still has eight schools from the B1G and SEC with two or three losses in their Top 25 rankings.
The excuse most heard is strength of schedule. “After all, the SEC and B1G play tougher competition.” I guess the regular season doesn’t mean anything anymore. Then why play the regular season? Let’s just have a beauty contest.
Brand bias at its best!
The national media that votes in the AP Poll is corrupt and bias. It’s time to drop the AP Poll from the selection criteria for the national championship tournament.
GO CANES!
