Canes Win! Beat FAU, 5-4!

The Canes broke a tie in the eight inning to defeat Florida Atlantic, 5-4, on Tuesday evening at Mark Light Field. Miami (21-17) won the season series against the Owls, winning two of three.


Going into the eighth inning, the Canes trailed 4-3. Max Galvin led off with a double and scored on Dorian Gonzalez's second double of the game. Tanner Smith's sacrifice fly scored Galvin. Evan Taveras, who entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch-hitter, knocked in Gonzalez with the winning run. Jake Ogden also contributed his fourth home run of the season.


On the mound, Reese Lumpkin pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits, while striking out five and walking one. Brian Walters closed the game with a perfect ninth for his third save.


Miami will host a three-game series against #14 Georgia Tech beginning on on Friday. First pitch is set for 8:00 p.m. ET, with ACCN providing coverage.
