Cardiac Canes win another thriller, 52-45

Miami survived another shoot-out, beating the tough Louisville Cardinals, 52-45, on Saturday.

Miami’s offense took control late in the fourth quarter behind Heisman contending QB Cam Ward and a bruising running attack.

Ward had another outstanding passing performance, going 21/34 for 319 yards and 4 touchdowns without an interception. It was Cam’s seventh game this season passing for 300+ yards. He now leads the nation with 24 TD passes. He also rushed for 29 yards.

Sam Brown and Xavier Restrepo led the Canes receivers with 125 yds/1 TD and 101 yds/1 TD, respectively. Restrepo moved into two-way tie for second in career receiving yards.

Miami running backs Damien Martinez (89 yds) and Mark Fletcher (73 yds) displayed their bruising running style to take control of the clock after Ward performed his typical air maid magic. Miami produced 219 rushing yards to control the ball down the stretch.

Louisville’s was predictably explosive and never gave up. Hats off to them. The Cardinals’ offense produced 448 total yards against Miami’s defense. QB Tyler Though matched Ward into the fourth quarter, going 31/51 for 342 yds and 4 TDs.

Transfer Ja'Corey Brooks led the Cardinals with 6 receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman running back Isaac Brown led the Cardinals rushing attack with 56 yards on 9 carries. However, Miami’s front seven limited Louisville ground attack to only 106 total yards in the game.

Miami returns to Hard Rock Stadium next Saturday against arch-rival Florida State. Kickoff is set for &:00 p.m. ET. Coverage will be on ESPN and WQAM-560.
