COACH… on finding a way

Miami defeated Virginia Tech on a thrilling and controversial Hail Mary pass and call reversal last Friday.

On Monday, head coach Mario Cristobal appeared on The Joe Rose Show early in the morning and met the press in the afternoon on campus. During each appearance, Cristobal shared his thoughts on the victory and the upcoming game against Cal this week.

Coach Cristobal went quickly to the bottom line after the hard fought game. He pointed out the team found the way to win.

"I think every person, program needs it if you want to attain the things you wanted throughout the course of the year," said Cristobal. "Football and winning is hard. I think people lose sight, and I guess maybe what's the best way to put this? Football is a four quarter game, and overtime, if necessary. And people get distracted when it's not domination from play one. Well, you know what? Domination may come in the form of a 50-0 game. It may come in the form of a last second play on any given Friday, Saturday or Sunday. But it is a full four quarter game and I think that understanding that winning is hard because people have good players and keeping intensity and focus really high is always a challenge as the season progresses, but it is also what separates the really good teams from the ones that might be kind of good but can fall off.”
