COACH… “we’re going to push them to the max.”

Miami crushed Ball State, 62-0, on Saturday evening. After the game, head coach Mario Cristobal was excited about the outcome and the effort of his team. Over the last 48 hours, Cristobal shared his thoughts on the game and his team.

“… we’re a better football team”

"From start to finish, I thought we became a better football team,” said Cristobal. “We left the game different than how we entered. Just finishing drives and getting them off the field in three-and-outs successively and getting off the field on third down and we got a shutout. We really controlled the middle eight, which is a big thing for us. Overall it was a really good performance and we look forward to another opportunity next week.”

On Monday morning, coach Cristobal appeared on "The Joe Rose Show.” His enthusiasm didn’t waver much.

“Overall, handled the delay well, upheld a standard when the two’s and thirds went in there to preserve the shutout and kept the offense going, moved the sticks got some points. Overall, a real solid day and on to the next.”

On the weather delays…

"We appreciate all the fans that hung in there after some successive delays. We could certainly feel the fans and they did an awesome job and our players were happy to see them hang in there.”

"It was the worst I ever had like that. You prepare for it forever and then 28 years later you finally go through those processes. The first thing is that we have really good older guys. We leaned on them. We are not going to be tense and we are not going to be goofy. We are going to relax and wait for the next thing. We simply said Ball State was going through the same thing, so who was going to handle it better?”

On Cam Ward after three games…

“He just gets mad. He just wants to get better. He just wants to do better. He wants to win in a better way. He wants to execute better. He wants to impact team mates better. The guy is, besides a being an alpha elite human being, he’s is driven. The great ones are restless. They never settle down, restless. He’s driven to excel at the highest level.

BOTTOM LINE…

“We’re getting better. We’re executing at a higher level. We left a lot on the table last week. But there was improvement and progress. You go right to the film, here’s what we’re doing well and here’s what we have to do better and here’s the plan to do so. It’s a very hungry and driven group. They just to keep playing. They just to keep playing. We’re blessed to have them, so we’re going to push them to the max.”

UP NEXT:

No. 8 Miami (0-0, 3-0) goes on the road to Tampa on Saturday to take on a tough South Florida (0-0, 2-1) team. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m.ET.
