GAME BALL: CAL

The cardiac Canes pulled off a miracle comeback on Saturday night to defeat the California Golden Bears, 39-38, in the last 30 seconds of the game.

Miami remains undefeated at 6-0, 2-0 ACC.

As is our tradition, CaneReports awards game ball(s) after a victory. After this thrilling victory, we have decided to award only one game though certainly more are deserving.

QB CAM WARD

Why only one game ball? Simple. If it were not for the special play of quarterback Cam Ward, we wouldn’t be awarding any game balls this week.

Down twenty-five points in the third quarter, Cam engineered one of the all-time comebacks in Miami history. With less than 30 seconds on the clock, Cam finished a 92-yard drive with a game winning touchdown pass to TE Elijah Arroyo.

For the game, Cam completed 35-53 passes (66%)for 437 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a 24-yard touchdown to close the gap in the fourth quarter. Down stretch in the fourth quarter, Cam produced 277 yards of offense, the most for any player in seven years. He leads the nation in yards passing (2,380) and TD passes (20) and has his team on he playoff path.

How do you describe Cam Ward last night?

Calm? Cool? Collected? Focused? Gunslinger? Field General?

Cam was all of these in Berkeley last night. Can you say, “Heisman Trophy?”

Congratulations to all our Canes!

GO CANES!
