GAME BALLS: FSU game

As is our tradition at CaneReports, we award game balls after each victory. This week our Canes dominated Florida State, 36-14, with their stifling defense and power running game.

Here are our game ball recipients for the FSU game.

RB Damien Martinez:

Damien Martinez had his best game of the year after a slow assimilation into Miami’s system. He powered his way to 148 yards (9.9 YPC) on the ground and two touchdowns. Damien allow Miami to control the game from the outset.

RB Mark Fletcher:

Mark Fletcher had a very rough week with the passing of his father.

"Even on the day of [the passing], he made it clear he wanted to be around his brothers and his team,” said head coach Mario Cristobal after the game.

Mark teamed with Damien, contributing 71 power running yards and a touchdown in the game.

Miami’s Defense:

Miami’s defense dominated Flu’s offense, limiting the Noles to 248 total offensive yard (115 in the air and 133 yards on the ground).

“The defense was the story of the game,” said Cristobal. “They played their tails off. They put pressure on the quarterback and they made it really difficult to run the football.”

We’re running out of game balls! It was a great day to be a Miami Hurricane!

Congratulations to all our Canes!
