The Canes feasted on gator meat in the Swamp on Saturday. While game balls deserve to be given out by the truck load, here are our difference makers for the game.
QB Cam Ward
What a debut for Cam Ward in orange and green, going 26-35, 385 passing yards and three touchdowns. He calmly engineered the offense to 529 total yards to launch his Heisman Trophy run.
WR Xavier Restrepo
Mr. Clutch did it again, hauling in seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. X was the “go to” guy when the Canes needed a critical first down.
Offensive Line
Miami’s offensive line won their battle in the trench against a good Florida front. They kept Cam Ward clean all day, giving him a cup of coffee while picking Florida’s secondary apart.
The Defense
Despite losing two defensive staters early, they simply “manned up” and continued to serve up chaos for the Gators. They totally controlled offense, giving up only 261 total yards.
P Dylan Joyce
It only happened twice on Saturday, Miami being forced to punt. But Dylan Joyce kept the Canes in good defensive field position with his punts, averaging 48.5 yards.
Honorable Mention:
Miami’s coordinators, OC Shannon Dawson and DC Lance Guidry, had their units well prepared with excellent game plans and play calling.
Congratulations to all our Canes!
GO CANES!
