GUIDRY Fired!

Miami and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry are parting ways after a very disappointing 2024 season on defense, according to multiple sources on Monday.

Coach Guidry came to Miami in 2923 after leading Marshall’s defense to a top 10 ranking in 2022.

"I want to first thank Coach Guidry for his contributions to the University of Miami," said Miami head coach Mario Cristobal in a released statement. "In a continuous effort to always improve all aspects of our program, I have decided to make a change on defense. We will move forward and make decisions that provide our players, staff and program the best opportunity to win and develop at the highest level.”

In 2024, Miami’s defense was the weakness of the team. The Canes’ regular season defense in 2024 ranked 60th best in the country, allowing an average of 23.9 points per game. In conference play, Miami allowed 30.8 points per game, which ranked 14th best in the ACC. Miami's defense was ranked #99 overall in the country during the regular season, according toPro Football Focus.

Miami will now begin a national search for a new defensive coordinator with names already emerging. The CaneReports will monitor and report on developments.
