Miami continues ACC play undefeated this week after narrowly escaping with a win over Virginia Tech last Friday nightdominating wins over four non-conference opponents. Miami (5-0, 1-0 ACC) will travel across the country to take on Cal on Saturday night in Berkley, California.
The California Golden Bears (3-1, 0-1 AAC) are coming off loss at Florida State last weekend to begin their conference play.
After reviewing film, we believe there are two KEYS to a Miami victory late Saturday night.
Miami OL vs Cal’s front seven…
Cal has a respectable front seven on defense. It’s their team strength. Miami’s offensive line did not play well against Virginia Tech. The game will be won or lost in this trench. If Miami establishes their running attack early, it will give the Canes opportunities later to exploit a good but not great Cal backend.
Tackle…
Miami missed way too many tackles in the Virginia Tech game. That must be corrected or Cal’s short passing game will be the difference. Take away Cal’s short to medium passing game and our defense line will eat.
BOTTOM LINE:
The team that wins in the trenches will win the day. Miami’s offense line must wear down the Bears’ front seven.
GO CANES!
