KEYS to the Game: Louisville

After the bye week, Miami continues ACC play undefeated this week after escaping with wins in their last two games against Cal and Virginia Tech.

The Canes (6-0, 2-0 ACC) travel to Louisville this Saturday to take on a tough Cardinals team (4-2, 2-1 ACC) that has lost two games by just a single score. They righted their ship last week, narrowly beating Virginia, 24-20, in Charlotte.

The Canes enter the game in the best health they have had all season. They are getting starting left tackle Jalen Rivers back after missing five games. Defensive end Elijah Alston is also expecting to return from injury.

After reviewing film, we believe there are three KEYS to a Miami victory against Louisville this Saturday night.

Limit explosive plays…

Miami allowed receptions of 57, 51, 55 and 56 yards in the Cal game. For the season, the Canes’ secondary has allowed seven plays of 50 yards or more, which is second-worst in the country. Against a dangerous Cardinals passing attack, that could be fatal.

Miami DL vs Louisville's OL…

The Cardinals’ offensive line has struggled so far this season and has lost their left tackle for the game. Miami’s defensive line must dominate a banged up and struggling Louisville offensive line.

Stop the run…

The Cardinals running game keeps opposing defenses honest with RB Isaac Brown rushing for 508 yards, leading the nation’s true freshmen.

BOTTOM LINE:

The team that wins in the trenches will win the day. Miami’s defensive line must control Cardinals’ run game and turn the Cards into a single-dimensional offense.

Then eat.

GO CANES!
