
Miami (11-3) broke out the power bats on Wednesday night, defeating Villanova, 12-2.
The Canes used five home runs, led by Dorian Gonzalez’s two home runs and five RBIs. His three-run shot in the eighth inning sealed the game. Derek Williams also had a breakout game, hitting a home run, two doubles and two RBIs. Max Galvin and Bobby Marsh also hit home runs.
On the mound, Miami starter Reese Lumpkin (2-0) kept the Wildcats at bay, giving up only two runs, one earned, in six innings.
Miami will host a three-game series against Connecticut starting Friday evening. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. EST. Coverage on ACCNX and WVUM.
