Miami continued to struggle in the consolation round of the Charleston Classic, losing to Oklahoma State 80-74 on Friday.
The Canes combined poor shooting with 13 turnovers and never led in the game. Miami shot 44.8% from the floor and 25% from beyond the arc.
The Cowboys jumped out to a 9-0 lead and built that advantage to 18 points in the first half. Oklahoma State scored in batches, both in the paint and from outside, while shooting 53.3% from 3-point range. Miami trailed by double digits for most of the game.
Point guard Nijel Pack led Miami’s meager attack with 20 points.
Miami (3-2) will play either Nevada or VCU in the seventh place game on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m. ET. Coverage provided by ESPN+ and WQAM-560.
