It’s was a great day to be a Miami Hurricanes!
Miami blew out Florida State, 36-14, in front of a sold out Hard Rock Stadium crowd of 66,200 on Saturday night to remain undefeated.
In the 69th meeting between the rival schools, Miami dominated every statistical measurement in the game but had to pull away with power late in the game. Miami totaled 445 total yards while holding the Noles to 248 total yards.
Miami turned to their ground forces to wear down the Noles’ defense. Running backs Damien Martinez and Mark Fletcher powered their way to 148 yards and 71 yards, respectively. They accounted for three touchdowns. For the game, Miami’s power running game amassed 230 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Cam Ward didn’t have his best game but masterfully guided a balanced attack featuring power ground game with ball control. Ward was 22-35, for 208 yards. For the first time this season, Ward did not throw a touchdown pass but also didn’t throw an interception.
Miami’s defense turned in their best game of the season, holding FSU’s offense to just 248 total yards. The Canes sacked FSU quarterbacks three times. The Noles were held to only 133 yards on the ground (4.8 YPC) and just 115 yards in the air.
Miami (8-0, 4-0 ACC) hosts Duke (6-2, 2-2 ACC) next Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff and TV/Radio coverage to be announced.
