Miami is off to a roaring start this season. The Canes thoroughly dismantled a solid SEC team on the road last Saturday, beating Florida 41-17.
However, there are eleven more regular season game remaining and we have seen fast starts fizzle out quickly in the past. So, let’s pump the brakes a bit.
On Saturday, Miami will host Florida A&M (FAMU) at Hard Rock Stadium. Yes, the Rattlers are an FCS team, but they are a very solid team will plenty of veterans on both sides of the ball. They can surprise a foe that does not take them seriously. FAMU is 2-0 and currently ranked #24 in the FCS poll. They have won 13 straight games going back to last season.
The Rattlers feature experienced signal caller Daniel Richardson, originally from Carol City High School. He has 2,332 offensive snaps in his college career, throwing for 7,960 yards and 62 touchdowns. FAMU is his third college stop, having played at Central Michigan and and Florida Atlantic.
FAMU also features a very stout offensive line, averaging 6’-4” and 309 pounds. This line is a very good FCS line and blocks for a former Hurricane in RB Thad Franklin.
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami should handle Florida A&M this Saturday, but should not under estimate the Rattlers. The Canes must be ready to prove the Florida game was not a fluke. It’s very important for the Miami fan base to turn out for this game. Momentum is extremely important and fan support is a big contributing factor in keeping it.
GO CANES!
