SNEAK PEAK: Ball State

Miami (2-0) is off to a great start this season. After dominating wins over Florida and Florida A&M, the Canes are ranked #10 for the first time since 2020.

This week, Miami will host Ball State on Saturday at the ROCK. Let’s fill the stands and celebrate our Canes!

With that said, let’s take a sneak peak at the Cardinals (1-0).

STRENGTH: Offensive Line

Ball State has a veteran and experienced offensive line. In total, this line has 8,531 offensive snaps from their projected starters, including LT Damon Kaylor (6-5, 287), LG Jon Mucciolo (6-4, 313), C Ethan Crowe (6-5, 296), RG Kevin Meeder (6-5, 298), and RT Taran Tyo (6-4, 322). This is the Cardinals team strength.

Ball State rushed for 173 yards last week behind that line in a season-opening 42-34 win over Missouri State. The Cardinals’ workhorse is RB Braedon Sloan (5’-11”/205). Sloan rushed for 103 yards (4.9 yds/carry) and one touchdown last week. He is also a threat as a receiver, catching six passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Ball State is led on offense by redshirt freshman quarterback Kadin Semonza, who completed 28 of 38 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception in the opener. He still young and relatively inexperienced, so Miami must keep constant pressure on him.

WEAKNESS: Defense

Ball State’s defense gave up 34 points to FCS level Missouri State. The Cardinals allowed 320 total yards to the Bears, including 258 yards in the air. Miami must test the Cardinals secondary.

Miami is a 36.5 point favorite over the Cardinals.
