Three Canes … ACC Players of the Week

Week 1 of the college football season saw Miami easily handle Florida on the road, 41-17. On Tuesday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced their conference Player of the Week at each position.

The ACC recognized three Hurricanes for their outstanding performance against the Gators, including QB Cam Ward, OC Zach Carpenter and Safety Jaden Harris.

Cam Ward (ACC Quarterback of the Week) was 26-of-35 passing for 385 yards and three scores, while running for 33 more yards on the ground. Overall, Ward accounted for 418 of the Hurricanes’ 529 yards of offense.

Zach Carpenter (Offensive Lineman of the Week) led an outstanding offensive line that yielded only one sack and dominated Florida in the run game. Against a strong Florida defensive line, the Canes ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Zach graded out as a top performer by PFF.

Jaden Harris (ACC Defensive Back of the Week) led the Miami defense with a career-high seven tackles and his first career interception. He also had two pass breakups. Miami limited the Gators to just 122 passing yards and only one third-down conversion on nine attempts.

The Canes return home to host Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACCN Extra (ESPN).

Let’s turn out in droves to support our 12th ranked Hurricanes.
