Miami landed their second transfer of the day on Saturday when former Washington State cornerback Ethan O'Connor committed to the Canes.
At 6’-1”/172, Ethan is a young RS Freshman corner who was the Cougars’ a top playmaker in 2024. He played 755 snaps for the Cougars, starting in all 12 games. Pro Football Focus graded him with a strong 80.1 coverage grade, allowing 32 catches on 62 targets (51.6 completion percentage) for 406 yards and three touchdowns. He posted 32 tackles, intercepting four passes and breaking up an additional 12 pass attempts in 12 starts. He visited Miami this week.
He chose Miami over Oklahoma, Georgia, UCLA, and Colorado. Ethan is considered the No. 13 cornerback in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings.
Ethan is the eighth transfer addition in the winter portal window, joining TE Alex Bauman, WR CJ Daniels, CB Emmanuel Karnley, OC James Brockermeyer, DT David Blay, CB Charles Brantley and S Zechariah Poyser.
