On Saturday evening, Miami flipped 4-star cornerback prospect Jontavius Wyman (Jonesboro, GA - Jonesboro) from the Georgia Bulldogs.

At 5’-11/170, Jontavius is rated 93, ranked the #17 CB and #166 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Jontavius chose the Canes from his 51 scholarship offers.

Jontavious is Miami’s ninth verbal commitment to the 2026 recruiting class, now ranked #9 in the country and #3 in the ACC. He joins Camdin Portis and Jaelen Waters in Miami’s cornerback class.

In 2024, Jontavius recorded 32 tackles, one TFL, two INTs, three pass breakups, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble. He also rushed for 109 yards and caught 34 passes for another 506 yards and 7 TDs. As a return specialist, averaged 29.9 yards per kickoff return and 35 yards per punt return, with two punts returned for touchdowns. All of the above was accomplished in only eight games.

Read analyst Hudson Standish’s 247Sports 2024 scouting report…

“Versatile secondary defender last verified hovering around 5-foot-11, 170 pounds with a plus-wingspan and adequate arm length. Owns experience playing field and boundary corner along with occasional reps at safety, at this stage of the evaluation process likely profiles to cornerback but could reasonably find a long-term home at all five spots in the defensive backfield. Dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands in all three phases, totaling five interceptions and seven receiving touchdowns to go along with valuable return game experience. Limited third-party verified combine testing data or multi-sport athletic markers aside from a 12.16 100m personal best from his freshman year. Should be viewed as a high-floor coverage ace with limited verified athletic context ahead of his junior season.”

Welcome to the U?, Jontavius!

GO CANES!
