What’s next?

If prior to this season, someone told you the Canes would finish the regular season with a 10-2 record, would you have been delighted?

Well, it happened.

For Miami fans today, you are feeling pretty bad after the Canes were upset by Syracuse on Saturday. We saw a fabulous season snuffed out and Miami’s ACC Championship hopes crash and burn.

What’s next? Talent Acquisition

National signing period:

On Wednesday, the early national signing period begins. Saturday’s loss won’t help Miami’s chances of landing a third consecutive Top Ten recruiting class. However, we still have the master recruiter, Mario Cristobal. Can he perform his magic again?

Transfer Portal:

Right behind the ESP the Transfer Portal opens. Eighteen seniors are departing. And every year, a handful of players enter the portal. We believe Miami will be more selective this year due to the recruiting success of the last few years. However, we also believe the Canes will be active in filling any remaining roster needs.

College Football Playoffs:

While the Canes were eliminated from participating in the ACC Championship, there is still hope for a berth in the college football playoffs. Don’t get your hopes up. We all know the power brokers in and around college football still on’t look favorably upon Miami. In they’r eyes, we are still the “convicts of college football. “SWAG” is beneath them.

Bowl Game:

In the likelihood of CFP rejection, Miami should receive an invitation to a good mid-level bowl. The ACC has agreements they must fulfill. Bowls such as the Gator Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Pop Tarts Bowl, Pinstripe Bowl, Fenway Bowl, Sun Bowl, Duke’s Mayo Bowl, and Military Bowl and First Responder Bowl all have affiliations with the ACC. Miami will be very attractive to all these bowls.

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami had a wonderful season. There is still much ahead before we close out 2024. Let’s celebrate our Canes!

GO CANES!
